Satellite Event

IBSimu Workshop at ICIS25

A half-day IBSimu workshop is organized as a satellite event at St. Catherine's college (ICIS25 venue) on Saturday after the conference (13 September). IBSimu is a powerful ion optics simulation package for low-energy beam transport incorporating space charge effects and plasma ion source extraction capabilities.

The workshop will showcase IBSimu's capabilities through example cases, focusing on both its possibilities and limitations. Case studies will include a range of ion sources, from filament driven Ar+ ion sources to Linac4 H- ion sources, ECR ion sources, particle detectors and beyond. The primary focus will be on ion source modelling, with live demonstrations of code examples. Some cases will be solved in real time as part of the session.

While the presentation will cover techniques and methodology, this is not a step-by-step installation or beginner's tutorial. Instead, it serves as a general introduction to IBSimu.

Active participation is encouraged! Attendees are welcome to ask questions and share insights throughout the session. If you have specific topics or case studies of interest, please inform the organizer in advance.

Registration to the event can be completed while registering to ICIS25.

The workshop is led by Taneli Kalvas, the developer of IBSimu.

Duration: 6 hours (includes 1 hour lunch)
Fee: £40 (for lunch and coffee)
