Travel and Visas

Visas:

If you are traveling from outside of the United Kingdom, you may need a standard visitor visa. Please refer to the UK government site to check if you require a visa. During the registration process select 'Yes' if you require a letter of invitation for your visa application.

As of 5 March 2025, visa-exempt visitors to the UK will require an ETA. An ETA costs £10 and lasts for 2 years. More information can be found at the at the UK government website

Please ensure that you leave sufficient time for processing.

Getting to Oxford:

Multiple airports serve London including Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City, and Southend. A bus, train, or taxi may be used to travel from London to Oxford. Depending on the airport and your mode of transport, travel between London to Oxford can be from 1-3 hours. 

National Express and the Oxford Bus Company have shuttles between major airports and Oxford city centre. 

The Heathrow Express travels to London Paddington Station, where direct trains to Oxford depart regularly. Elizabeth Line connects Heathrow and Reading, with regular transfers available to Oxford. Great Western Railway connects Gatwick and Reading. The trainline can be used to determine the best train route between your airport and Oxford.

The Birmingham airport offers a direct National Rail train to Oxford city centre. 

Getting around Oxford:

Oxford is serviced by multiple local bus and taxi companies. The bus companies are Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach Oxfordshire, and Thames Travel. Uber does not operate in Oxford.
