Important notice: There is a possibility of a rail strike on 29 July, Saturday. If you plan to travel on that day, please be aware your travel time can be longer, or disrupted. (You can seek assistance by sending an email to the organizing committee.)

Train from Manchester airport

Transpennine Express runs hourly direct service on Monday-Saturday. On Sunday, you would need to change at Manchester Piccadilly station.

https://www.tpexpress.co.uk/

From London Heathrow

You have to arrive at London Kings Cross station first. You can use Google Maps, but the surest way is using the Heathrow Express departing from Terminal 5 station, or Heathrow Central (T2&3) every 15 minutes. But as an alternative option, Elizabeth Line is a cheaper and another convenient option (From T2,3,4,5, every 30 minutes).

-- Heathrow Express (37.00 GBP for Anytime return ticket + 2.70/2.80 GBP for one-ride on Tube):
You can book an e-ticket from any rail company. The official webpage is: https://www.heathrowexpress.com/

Stops only at London Paddington station. Then follow the sign to proceed to the London underground (Central line). Take the ticket gate at the front, then turn left to the lifts or escalator to the upper floor. Alternatively, there is a shorter route if you take the stairs from the middle of the platform. Then turn right to the concourse for the Tube. Take the eastbound train of Central train, then get off at London St. Pancras and Kings Cross. Then arrive at the Kings Cross station. For a Tube ride, you can use a Contactless payment such as Apple Pay or Google Pay.

-- Elizabeth line (13.30 GBP one way with contactless)

https://content.tfl.gov.uk/elizabeth-line-timetable-may-2023.pdf
To take the train, you can use a Contactless payment such as Apple Pay or Google Pay through to Kings Cross. You can either change at Paddington station or Farrington station. The latter is recommended. At Farrington station, take an escalator to the ground floor, then take one stop to London St. Pancras / Kings Cross station.

-- From London Kings Cross (Flexible ticket for 68.40GBP. Cheaper option available for a fixed-train ticket.)

London North Eastern Railway runs trains to York: https://www.lner.co.uk/

Non-stop service to York runs every hour but other slower services will be sometimes cheaper and less crowded. “Super off-peak single” is a flexible ticket, that you can take any train. We don’t recommend you buy cheaper flexible tickets, which normally allow only for other rail operators which run much fewer trains than LNER. The one with 68.40 GBP allows you to take any train. The “Advance Single ” ticket is only for the scheduled train (unless there is a delay or cancellation on the train).

Taxi
There should be several options but one of the following company runs taxis with a reasonable price:
https://www.airporttaxis-uk.co.uk/
From Heathrow: 305 GBP for up to 3 people

From Manchester Airport: 144 GBP for up to 3 people

For any questions regarding the local transport, please ask the organizing committee.
