About LPAW

The Laser-Plasma Accelerator Workshop (LPAW) is a biennial international conference dedicated to novel laser-based particle acceleration techniques. First established in the 1990s in Kardamili, Greece, LPAW has grown into one of the premier conferences in the field, bringing together more than a hundred researchers, engineers, and students from around the world.

Over the years, LPAW has earned a reputation for combining high-quality scientific discussion with a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere, creating an ideal environment for the exchange of ideas and the development of new partnerships.

The 2027 edition will highlight the ongoing transition of plasma accelerators from a predominantly research-driven area into a mature technology platform underpinning a new generation of large-scale scientific and industrial facilities. Plasma accelerator technologies offer transformative capabilities across a wide range of sectors, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, security, and scientific research. To reflect this evolution, the workshop will include dedicated sessions on emerging applications of plasma accelerators, bringing together technology developers, end users, industry representatives, and researchers. These sessions will foster dialogue between the communities developing plasma accelerator technologies and those seeking to deploy them in real-world applications, helping to accelerate innovation and maximise societal and economic impact.
