Webb is the successor to the Hubble space telescope. Launched on Christmas Day 2021, Webb is the largest and most powerful space science telescope ever constructed. Webb’s objective is to investigate the epoch when the very first stars and galaxies formed in our Universe, over 13.5 billion years ago. Webb has been enabling transformational science since its launch and this talk will highlight some of the most breath-taking and exciting discoveries to date. Webb is a joint collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency and Canada with one of the major instruments, MIRI, built and tested in the UK, locally at RAL.
