Description
Dispersion relations are arguably the best tool to unravel the physics encoded in the electromag-netic form factors of the nucleon from small to large momentum transfer. The central objectof the discussion are the spectral functions that encode the perturbative and non-perturbativephysics of the nucleon structure. In this talk, I consider a recent dispersion-theoretical analysisof the nucleons electromagnetic form factors in the space-like and time-like regions. This allowsin particular for a high precision extraction of the proton electric and magnetic radius as wellas the magnetic radius of the neutron. This gives further credibility to the small proton chargeradius found in earlier dispersive analyses as well as most recent experiments. I further discusspredictions at low as well as high momentum transfer that are needed to resolve some remainingissues.
