The TrackML was a data science competition organized in 2018 on Kaggle and Codalab platforms. The aim of the challenge was to get the best ideas and techniques from the Machine Learning (ML) community in order to stimulate development of new particle tracking algorithms for HEP experiments. I will review utilization of ML techniques in the proposed tracking algorithms, highlight the most interesting solutions submitted by the TrackML participants, and discuss directions for future research.
