Description
Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) thin-film research at Daresbury Laboratory has made significant progress in both niobium (Nb) and alternative material depositions. Historically, these efforts were limited to $7.8\text{ GHz}$ planar samples and $6\text{ GHz}$ closed-cell cavities. This talk presents a major scale-up in capability: the commissioning of a new $1.3\text{ GHz}$ cavity deposition facility.
We present a system overview, custom magnetron design, and initial deposition trials with material analysis. Furthermore, we report on the first Nb-coated $1.3\text{ GHz}$ cavity, with initial test results provided by the newly commissioned low-power RF test facility.
