Description

Fusion energy generates vast amounts of heterogeneous data—from CAD models and diagnostics to multiphysics simulations and AI predictions—that demand more than computation alone; they require integration, thoughtful design, and clear communication. This talk introduces the Fusion Information Visualisation for Experience Design (FIVExD) framework, a modular, adaptable approach for building responsive, interoperable, and stakeholder-aware visualisation workflows. At UKAEA, we are applying FIVExD across facilities such as MAST-U, Chimera, HIVE, and LIBRTI, combining tools like NVIDIA Omniverse, ParaView, Blender, WebXR, and AI-driven dashboards within automated USD-based workflows. Use cases include photorealistic and scientific digital twin visualisations, AI-supported monitoring and annotation, and immersive, collaborative environments for design and decision-making. By leveraging HPC, GPU rendering, and scalable platforms like OVX, these workflows enable new levels of exploration and engagement, reminding us that the true challenge lies not only in creating advanced systems but in connecting people to data and insight in meaningful ways.
