DUNE’s primary goal is to confirm indications seen by current long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments of leptonic CP violation. To do this will require a suite of near detectors that can control systematic uncertainties to a level not previously achieved in neutrino physics. I will briefly describe some of the most recent results from long-baseline neutrino experiments, and explain why a high-pressure gas time projection chamber (HPgTPC) is a crucial part of this near detector suite and how the UK can contribute to the design, construction and data acquisition of DUNE’s HPgTPC.
