As their outgoing Science Communication Industrial Placement Student, Emma Hattersley has spent the past year trying to bring the research of PPD to a broader audience. In this presentation, she will discuss some of the social media campaigns she was involved with, running an X account post Elon Musk’s takeover and the launch of the PPD LinkedIn account. She will also outline the outreach exhibits she helped bring to Harwell Open Week (yes, including the LEGO) and reflect on what she learnt from her involvement with RAL outreach and her attendance at the Annual Conference of the European Science Engagement Association (EUSEA) earlier this year. In addition, she’ll present some of the RAL science history research she’s carried out throughout the year, which focused on Bubble Chamber research and World Wide Web history.
